Used egg boxes turn into building blocks for kids to play with, thanks to an innovative idea developed by the Danish packaging company DAVA
The Danish food packaging company DAVA has prolonged the life cycle of egg cartons by creating the eggyplay – a new type of packaging solution that once empty can be used as reusable Lego-like building blocks for kids to play with.
The eggyplay boxes are made from polypropylene plastic, which is dishwasher safe and recyclable. They are lighter than conventional egg cartons and once stacked they take up 50 percent less space, making egg transport more fuel-efficient.
At home, children and parents can use the empty eggyplay boxes as large Lego-like, interlocking blocks to build life-size structures, in which kids can play.
Moreover, the company is currently working on creating a return system similar to that for PET bottles, which will allow customers to return the boxes when they can no longer serve as a toy.
