The California city of Fort Bragg has required its restaurants to only use disposable plates and cups, due to severe drought conditions
Quelle:: City of Fort Bragg, California
The coastal city Fort Bragg in Mendocino County, California has declared a stage 3 water emergency after the level of the Noyo River, which provides 30 percent of the city's water supply, reached a record low.
To cope with this difficult situation, the City Council enacted strict water conservation measures, which affect both individuals and businesses.
The water usage restrictions are particularly harsh on restaurants, requiring them to only use disposable plates, cups and utensils.
They can also no longer leave pitchers of water on guests' tables, as water can only be served upon explicit request.
Regular citizens will also have to make sacrifices to conserve water. The washing of vehicles and driveways is strictly prohibited, as well as the watering of lawns and gardens.
